About

Everard Williams is a photographer, educator, and Chair of the Photography + Imaging Department at ArtCenter College of Design. His work examines how residue becomes evidence and monument, transforming discarded matter—such as blown-out tire carcasses, 2- inch studio recording tape, and formed lead sheets—into sculptural photographs that recast refuse as an archive.
After the 2025 Eaton fire destroyed his home and photo book library, Williams began “History of Future Present.” He returns to the site to recover carbonized photobooks—volumes that still retain their shape and layered pages—and photographs them as recovered. The project treats residue as record and the site of loss as studio, widening a personal loss into a study of cultural memory.
Williams holds a BFA in Photography from ArtCenter College of Design and lives and works in Altadena, California.
